Air, la biographie

En 1995, Jean-Benoît Dunckem et Nicolas Godin, plaquent leurs études d'ingénieurs pour se consacrer à la musique. Le groupe Air voit le jour. Elevé au synthétiseur, il s'impose comme le Vangelis des années 90. Avec "Moon Safari", premier album paru en 1998, il fait des ravages. Air trouve son public avec "Sexy Boy", premier single extrait de cet opus. Habillés en cosmonautes pour la promotion de celui-ci, Jean-Benoît et Nicolas lancent en orbite leur disque partout autour de la France, dès le jour de sa sortie. En 2000, Air signe la BO de " The Virgin Suicides" avec notamment le single plutôt jazzy "Playground Love". Prélude à un nouvel album, livré l'année suivante, "10, 000 Hz Legend".

En 2002, le groupe publie "Everybody Hertz", un album de remix et un titre en forme de clin d'oeil à l'opus précédent. On note la participation des Neptunes sur le titre "Don't Be Light". En étroite collaboration avec la réalisatrice Sofia Coppola, Air participe aux bandes originales de ses trois films, "The Virgin Suicides", "Lost in Translation" et "Marie-Antoinette". Malgré tout, il trouve le temps de livrer un album en 2004, "Talkie Walkie", avant d'aider Charlotte Gainsbourg pour la réalisation de son album, "5:55".

Le duo sort l'album "Pocket Symphony" en mars 2007, fortement influencé par le Japon. Dix ans après la sortie de son premier opus, "Moon Safari", Air commémore l'évènement en livrant une édition spéciale de cet opus, en avril 2008. Le duo se produit ensuite sur scène à Paris à la Salle Pleyel en octobre. En octobre 2009, le groupe est de retour avec "Love 2", annoncé par le single "Sing Sang Sung". En 2012, Air sort "Le Voyage dans la Lune", inspiré par le film éponyme de Georges Méliès.
