Lana Del Rey, la mystérieuse révélation de l'année 2011, attire tous les regards. Pas étonnant au vu de sa plastique absolument parfaite, sa moue boudeuse, ses vêtements tortillés et ses allures délicieusement rétro. Pourtant on sait encore très peu de choses sur cette jeune femme, née en 1986 à New York.

New-Yorkaise d'origine, Lana Del Rey - Elizabeth Woolridge Grant dans la vie de tous les jours - débute sa carrière en 2008, à l'âge de 22 ans, sous le nom de Lizzie Grant. A cette période, elle enregistre un maxi, ''Kill Kill'', constitué de trois titres. La chanteuse-compositrice-interprète cherche encore son univers musical quand elle publie son premier disque, ''Lana Del Ray A.K.A. Lizzy Grant'', sur un label indépendant.

C'est en 2011, lorsqu'elle signe chez une major et réalise plusieurs clips, qu'elle attise la curiosité des professionnels et du grand public. Le titre ''Video Games'' et le clip qui l'accompagne gagnent le coeur des critiques (Pitchfork, NME, Inrockuptibles...) qui placent Lana Del Rey en tête des classements artistes en guise de bilan de fin d'année. Son album ''Born To Die'' paraît début 2012 et rencontre un vif succès (près de 50 000 albums physiques et digitaux vendus la première semaine).
