Norah Jones, la biographie
Née à New York dans le quartier de Brooklyn le 30 mars 1979, Norah Jones grandit à Dallas. Très vite influencée par ce qu'écoute sa mère, du jazz et de la soul, elle se spécialise dans le piano jazz après ses études secondaires. Elle intègre le lycée de Booker T. Washington, section "arts de la scène et arts visuels" (la même que Erykah Badu). Elle y remporte le prix de musique étudiant, celui de meilleure chanteuse jazz, et celui de la meilleure composition en 1996.
De retour dans sa ville natale en 1999, elle collabore avec les Wax Poetic puis monte son propre groupe. C'est avec ses musiciens qu'elle enregistre des maquettes qu'elle envoie au célèbre label Blue Note. Ayant retenu l'attention de la maison de disques référence en matière de jazz, elle signe un contrat, en janvier 2001, et publie son premier album, "Come Away With Me", au printemps 2002.
Ce dernier lui permet de remporter huit Grammy Awards en 2003. L'année suivante, elle sort son deuxième album, "Feels Like Home", musicalement orienté vers la country. En une semaine, l'opus se vend à plus d'un million d'exemplaires. Son troisième disque, "The Little Wiliies", arrive dans les bacs en 2006. Il s'agit du premier album que la chanteuse sort sous son propre label, Milking Bull Records. Cette même année, Norah Jones fait ses premiers pas au cinéma dans "My Blueberry Nights" de Wong Kar-Wai. En novembre 2009, elle revient avec "The Fall", annoncé par le single "Chasing Pirates".

Academy Awards Performance Announced/Perth Concert Rescheduled
Norah will perform the Oscar-nominated song, "Everybody Needs A Best Friend," at the 85th installment of the Academy Awards taking place on February 24th at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, CA. Accordingly, Norah's upcoming sold out performance at Perth's Riverside Theatre has been brought forward from Sunday, February 24th to Wednesday, February 13th.
"When my friend Seth MacFarlane invited me to perform the theme song from his movie TED at the Academy Awards (which he is hosting), I couldn't say no! I had a great time recording this song with Seth, and was thrilled to learn that the song was nominated for an Oscar. Getting to perform it at such a prestigious event that my friend is hosting is a once in a lifetime opportunity. In order to pull it off, I had to move my upcoming show at the Riverside Theater in Perth to February 13th. I sincerely hope that everyone coming to the show will understand the rescheduling and still be able to come a little earlier than anticipated. Many apologies for any inconvenience this causes you. I am very excited to come play for you!"
