Raphael Saadiq, la biographie
Raphael Saadiq, de son vrai nom Charlie Ray Wiggins, est un auteur-compositeur-interprète, né 1966, à Oakland en Californie, relié au mouvement new soul. Il commence la chanson dès l'âge de six ans puis continue à vivre de sa passion en jouant de la basse à l'école et à l'église. En 1988, il fonde le groupe de new jack swing Tony! Toni! Toné! avec son frère D'wayne Wiggins et son cousin Timothy Christian. Après quelques albums à succès, il décide de se lancer en solo et produit notamment plusieurs artistes comme Whitney Houston ou encore Macy Gray.
En 1999, il fonde le groupe Lucy Pearl avec lequel il livre notamment le tube "Don't Mess With My Man". Trois ans plus tard, il propose son premier opus solo, "Instant Vintage" et obtient notamment cinq nominations aux Grammy Awards. Après "Ray Ray", il revient en 2009 avec "The Way I See It", calqué sur les grands classiques soul des années 60 et 70, rendant ainsi un hommage appuyé à des artistes comme Marvin Gaye ou encore Diana Ross. En mars 2010, il revient avec "Live In Paris".
