Van Halen, la biographie

En 1978, l'aventure Van Halen débute. Dès leur arrivée, les membres du groupe réécrivent l'histoire du hard rock. En effet, le guitariste Eddie Van Halen prouve au public et à la profession qu'en matière de guitare électrique, tout reste à faire. A force de recherches, ce dernier parvient à mettre au point la technique du tapping, qui consiste à frapper la corde de la guitare au niveau du manche, au lieu de la pincer ou la frotter. Un autre élément a contribué à rendre la formation reconnaissable : l'inimitable voix du chanteur David Lee Roth.

A eux deux, ils réussissent à faire de Van Halen l'un des groupes rock les plus populaires des États-Unis entre les années 70 et les années 80. Malgré tout, à la fin de la décennie, des tensions commencent à se faire ressentir au sein du combo, si bien que David Lee Roth décide de le quitter. Après ce départ un peu précipité, Sammy Hagar le remplace au chant. Une quinzaine d'albums dont "Van Halen III", sorti en 1998, et "The Best of Both Worlds", en 2004, constituent la discographie de Van Halen. Après une pause, le groupe est de retour en 2007 avec David Lee Roth au chant pour une nouvelle tournée. En 2012, Van Halen sort un nouvel album intitulé "A Different Kind of Truth" et reprend la route.
